Cybersecurity Testing Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Testing Engineer with strong expertise in Verification & Validation (V&V) for automotive and embedded systems. The role is highly test-oriented, focusing on analyzing, debugging, and validating cybersecurity mechanisms such as SecOC, MacSec, and Key Management Systems. The engineer will also review suppliers’ test reports and provide expert technical statements regarding their accuracy, completeness, and relevance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Execute cybersecurity testing and validation activities with focus on SecOC, MacSec, and Key Management.
  • Debug and analyze failures in security communication protocols (e.g., SecOC for AUTOSAR, MacSec for Ethernet). 
  • Review and critically assess suppliers’ test reports, ensuring compliance with standards and project requirements. 
  • Provide expert evaluations and statements regarding the relevance and adequacy of suppliers’ test evidence. 
  • Support system and software teams in root cause analysis and troubleshooting security-related issues. 
  • Develop and maintain test cases, test specifications, and validation documentation aligned with CS requirements. 
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity architects, system engineers, and suppliers to ensure end-to-end CS compliance. 
  • Stay up to date with automotive cybersecurity standards (e.g., ISO 21434, UNECE R155) and integrate them into testing practices.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • +6 years of experience in Cybersecurity Verification & Validation (CS V&V) within automotive or embedded systems.
  • Hands-on experience with SecOC (Secure Onboard Communication), MacSec (Media Access Control Security), and Key Management Systems.
  • Strong background in debugging and testing communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, AUTOSAR stack). 
  • Familiarity with security test environments, tools, and automation frameworks. 
  • Analytical skills to evaluate suppliers’ reports and provide clear, expert-level statements. 
  • Knowledge of automotive standards and regulations related to cybersecurity (ISO 21434, UNECE R155). 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams. 
  • Fluent in English (written & spoken).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with penetration testing or fuzz testing in automotive networks.
  • Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms, PKI, and secure key exchange mechanisms. 
  • Exposure to automotive development processes (ASPICE, ISO 26262).
